Most strains of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) that cause cancer and warts can be prevented by receiving Gardasil, a simple three-step vaccination.
Previously, Gardasil was approved for individuals up to the age of 26. However, the FDA recently approved the vaccination for those up to 45 years of age. Currently, we are aware of the following insurances that cover the vaccination for patients 45 years and younger: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia, BCBS Federal and State, and Ambetter.
It is expected that other insurance companies will begin covering the cost of Gardasil (for individuals up to age 45) over the next several months. We will be sure to update you as soon as we become aware.
